Cooper Green Mercy Health
For Cooper Green Mercy Health Services, 2025 was a year of milestones and a foundation for continued growth.
In December 2025, Cooper Green celebrated its first full year in a new state-of-the-art facility designed to support comprehensive, multi-specialty outpatient care. As an affiliate of UAB Health System, Cooper Green is committed to providing respectful, patient-centered care to all residents of Jefferson County, helping improve health outcomes and quality of life regardless of a patient’s ability to pay.
The organization’s original facility, opened in 1972, was built to provide inpatient and emergency services before transitioning to multi-specialty ambulatory care in 2013. In 2020, a UAB Medicine-led health authority assumed day-to-day operations, paving the way for a new era of expanded care.
The new facility has significantly increased access to services while introducing new offerings that make healthcare more convenient and coordinated for patients. Expanded imaging capabilities, including an on-site MRI suite, allow more services to be delivered in-house, while mammography capacity has doubled.
New optometry services enable patients to receive eye exams, obtain prescriptions, and pick up glasses in one location. Additional amenities include a retail pharmacy, vaccination services, urgent care, streamlined laboratory services, dental care, physical, occupational, and speech therapy, and both indoor and outdoor therapy spaces.
The impact was immediate. In 2025, Cooper Green welcomed more than 2,100 new patients, bringing total membership to over 8,000 individuals. The organization also scheduled more than 72,000 appointments, reflecting growing demand for accessible, high-quality care throughout the community.
