Beginning in late 2022, this project transformed three separate office suites into a single, unified environment designed to promote collaboration, accessibility, and connection. By reducing oversized private offices and reallocating space to shared work areas, the new layout supports a more open and engaging workplace while strengthening the physical connection to the adjacent tutoring center, allowing key student programs, including first-generation and international outreach, to expand.
Furniture planning played a critical role in bringing the design vision to life. Using detailed 3D visualizations, the team was able to clearly communicate how open collaboration zones, shared workspaces, and staff–student interaction areas would function within the space. Flexible architecture solutions support day-to-day work while accommodating larger gatherings and events. The design also intentionally integrates spaces that support neurodiversity, including rooms dedicated to acoustic sensitivity and controlled lighting environments.
Today, the space serves as a welcoming hub for both faculty and students, supporting tutoring, career development, and community-focused programming. This space demonstrates how thoughtful design and furniture integration can create adaptable academic environments that foster connection, inclusivity, and long-term use.
